Mia is back in the rescue to no fault of her own (unfortunately one of her humans had an allergy to her). She is available for adoption & you can apply at KGDR.org
Hi, my name is Mia, I am a spunky 15 month old GD. I am very smart, I know sit, down, back, drop it. I love to play fetch and tug-a-war with my family. I am high energy and would love an outgoing type of family that loves to go for walks and play in the park. I do great on a car ride and you wouldn’t even know I was there. I love to cuddle and sleep next to my people. Due to my high energy I wouldn’t do that great with little kids, just because I dont know my own strength. I love chew toys and stuffed animals. And as long as I have been busy I am no trouble at all. With some further obedience training I bet I would be the best dog you ever had. I am spayed and UTD. Apply to adopt Mia here!
Haddie is a 2 year old, rambunctious Dane who loves to spend time with company. She is very intelligent and knows the terms “potty”/go potty”, “sit”, “wait”, “ok”, “bed/go to your bed” and “eat your food”. She is working on “leave it”, “crate/go to your crate”, “all done” and “down” – her least favorite. Experience has shown that while at first nervous, Haddie is welcoming to new people and dogs alike. She has spent the last two weeks accustoming herself to being crated, so she can be vocal but settles down quickly if left alone. Haddie has done well in a house with aother dogs. She is ever eager to play tug of war with dogs or people. Whatever toy you or the nearest dog has is clearly the superior item, and she will bound for it. Toys with squeakers are the best!! If given the chance she will rip apart a toy although she will stop if asked. Her visit with a cat since being with KGDR resulted in her listening to the cat’s desire for space. It is unknown if she will chase a running cat although she has not paid cats much attention when on walks. While still a bit graceless and excitable, Haddie was raised around small children and seems to have an affinity for them. With a smidge of patience and consistency, Haddie will be a gem of a companion. Haddie wants to please, and she is well suited for someone with an active lifestyle. At this point in her life, she will need space and time to work out her puppy energy. This “pocket Dane” is eager to find a forever home. Haddie is spayed and UTD. Apply to adopt Haddie here!

Beau is a 22 month, 130 pound Great Dane who is ready for his forever home. He is crate trained but loves to snuggle in bed. He will be best in a home with no other animals and without small children. Beau quickly adapted to using the doggie door for his potty breaks and playtime rituals. Beau loves toys and loves to play tug-a-war. He’s energetic when it’s time for a walk, but settles down when Netflix is on. Beau does well on a non-retractable leash with halter and is in the process of learning to heal. Additionally, Beau is learning simple tricks like “sit” and “shake”. He routinely comes when called, but can get distracted by the mailman, neighborhood walkers, or cats. He is up to date on all vaccinations, and was neutered in early August. He requires loving goodbyes before you go to work, and quick loving recognition when you come home! Beau is good with children. He is an amazing dog with a lot of love to give but can become too attached to his people and at times will become protective and at times possessive, especially when other strange dogs are approaching. He will continue to need patience, time, consistency and training. He is UTD. To adopt Beau apply here!
DUKE (Pending Adoption)
Duke gives the best snuggles. He likes to be moderately active during the late morning to afternoon, but after that, his favorite activity is laying on your lap. He’s great on a leash, and has been awesome with kids and other dogs, and he has recently encountered cats with no issue. He eats well and sleeps in his crate without complaint.
Duke is 5 years old and was rescued from Animal Control in Wayne County, Kentucky. He has a deformation on his leg that appears to be from an injury that healed incorrectly when he was very young. It does not seem to bother him now – he can run and jump with the best of them – but the doctor says that when it does start to bother him there are leg braces that can help him maintain his mobility.
Don’t let his age deter you. He’s past his puppy phase and ready to be your couch potato. Duke is neutered, has had a gastropexy, and is UTD. Apply to adopt Duke here!
Meet Bruce! Bruce is an 8 month old Dane who is looking for his new forever home! He was rescued from Alabama in September 2019 after a Good Samaritan could not afford to care for his previously broken and then infected hind leg. After many months of healing, medications, and one surgery, his leg is almost back to normal!
Despite the many setbacks Bruce has had during his short life, he is still full of energy and love! He loves to play with his foster brothers and stealing toys is a great pastime. He is crate trained and house trained and does well walking on a leash. Bruce is still very much so a puppy and loves to run and play, sticks and leaves are his favorite! He loves cats, but sometimes a bit too much, and can be a bit more intimidating than he realizes.
Even though Bruce has had surgery to mostly repair his leg, unfortunately, it may not be his last. It is still unclear if there are any other unhealthy pieces of bone left in the leg that could need to be removed. It is also not known at this time if his growth plate was affected and how it may affect his left hind leg’s growth compared to the right. Bruce will also need to be neutered, gastropexied, and have his umbilical hernia repaired.
Bruce is a special guy who deserves a home who is willing to work with any future procedures and recoveries he may need! So far, he has handled all of this in stride and any future family would be lucky to have him as their new addition! Apply to adopt Bruce here!
